Popular Balance Boards

There are many different types of balance boards to choose from. Here are three of the most popular balance boards today.

Bongo Balance Board

The Bongo Balance Board is one of the best known balance boards. It emphasizes a side-to-side motion. The main focus of the Bongo Balance Board is to develop balance by helping you enhance the muscles needed for balance and to help enhance your brains reaction to balance. The wheels move independently, which creates an extra challenge for some exercises.

Indo Board

The Indo Balance Board is like the Bongo Balance Board, except the Indo Board features many different designs and shapes. The types include “surfer” and “skier” focused styles (including one that is actually shaped like a small surf board). Though one of Indo Balance Board styles are a “rocker” styled roller (like the Bongo Board) there are also the IndoFLO Balance Cushion

styles available, which is a 360° movement balance board. These have become very popular, because the difficulty can be adjusted depending on how much the IndoFLO Balance Cushion is inflated.

Reebok Balance Board

The Reebok Balance Board is very popular choice because it is a very affordable option to enhance core body strength and increase overall coordination. The non-slip Reebok Balance Board allows for constant motion to challenge coordination plus balance and work every muscle. This results in a fun way to gain more definition and burn more calories. This balance board is an ultra-efficient, low-impact workout to improve your overall fitness, agility and core strength.

Types of Balance Boards

There are many different types of balance boards that function a little differently or have a slightly different purposes. Below is a list of these different types of balance boards.

Rocker Board

A rocker board is usually the best place to start for beginners. This is because this is the most basic out of all the types of boards, since it only allows for a left-right motion and because it has a wider deck for more stability. The board is used by placing one foot  at each side of the board, and then either rocking from side to side or maintaining the board at a stationary “balanced” point.

The Thera-Band Rocker Board is one of the top-rated Rocker Boards and a good example of this type of balance board.

Rocker-Roller Board

Rocker-roller boards adds an extra step of difficulty to the rocker board by using a cylindrical roller that is usually separate from the board itself. This makes the board’s pivot point change depending on the position of the roller.

The Bongo Balancing Board is a top-rated Rocker-Roller Board and a good example of this type of balance board.

Wobble Boards

Wobble boards offer a full 360 degree motion and are widely utilized in the physical therapy fields and for sports training. To use this board, a person stands on the wobble board and tilts the board in any direction without allowing the edges to touch the ground. The wobble board is very popular for doing enhancing exercises, such as squats, push-ups, and sit-ups. All exercises become much more difficult and effective when using a wobble board.
